Ella Fitzgerald has been called The First Lady of Song and with good reason Hailed by critics and peers as the best female jazz singer of all time she had great technique as well as the ability to convey the perfect emotion for each song in her repertoire From her first nursery rhyme-inspired hit A-Tisket A-Tasket to her series of Songbook albums where she recorded definitive versions of songs by composers like Cole Porter Rodgers and Hart and George and Ira Gershwin Ella sang her heart out Even after decades of touring the world playing large concert halls and intimate nightclubs she retained the same enthusiasm for entertaining an audience as she had as a teenager singing in Harlem talent shows Though she is no longer among us it s certain that Ella would be glad to know there are still people who love to hear her sing
